    Happy Monday! The Olympics really picked up steam as we crossed the halfway point over the weekend finishing up in the pool (with lots of hardware for the Americans) and on the links with the team tournaments in soccer and basketball nearing the finals. We also had an electric trade deadline in the MLB, the Gold Cup soccer final where USA shined, UFC action and the PLL season nearing its finale. What a time to be a sports fan!

    Browns extended RB Nick Chubb on a 3-year, $36.6 M deal – Chubb and Kareem Hunt will a dynamic duo in the Cleveland backfield this season

    Kawhi Leonard declined his player option with the Clippers and will enter free agency – all signs point, though, to Leonard returning to the Clips for next season

    UFC Fight Night

    Sean Strickland (24-3) def. Uriah Hall (18-10) via UD

    After five rounds of aggression and nonstop punch output, Sean Strickland won unanimously over Uriah Hall, landing 221 strikes to Hall’s 122 – Strickland threw nearly 500 strikes in his first UFC Main Event (472)
    Strickland controlled the fight from the getgo, not allowing the flasy Hall to get going in any facet, as Strickland announces to the world, he is ready for a top 10 fight in the UFC’s Middleweight division

    Bellator 263 – Featherweight Grand Prix

    A.J. McKee (18-0) def. Patricio “Pitbull” Freire (32-5) via R1 Submission (Standing Guillotine)

    AJ McKee talked the talk and then walked the walk in the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix, defeating Patricio Pitbull, the featherweight & lightweight champ, in under two minutes in his first championship fight
    McKee, not only comes away with the Bellator Featherweight title, but also is rewarded with a $1M bonus for winning the Grand Prix

    Olympic Top Events From the Weekend

    Xander Schauffele (USA) shot a 4-under 67 to hold off Rory Sabbatini’s Olympic-record 61, which included six birdies on the back nine, and win gold in men’s golf on Sunday – seven players finished tied for third at 15-under, including Collin Morikawa (USA) and Rory McIlroy (Ireland) who went into a playoff to determine the bronze medal, which was won by C.T. Pan (Chinese Taipei) over Morikawa on the fourth extra hole
    USA men’s swimming capped off their very successful trip to Tokyo in style winning the 4x100m medley relay in world-record time – the team of Ryan Murphy, Michael Andrew, Caeleb Dressel and Zach Apple outpaced Great Britain (silver) and Italy (bronze) for the dub
    Bobby Finke (USA) solidified his place as the world’s top distance swimmer, surging from third place to first on the final length in the men’s 1500m freestyle to win gold over Mykhailo Romanchuk (Ukraine) and Florian Wellbrock (Germany) – Finke also won gold in the 800-meter earlier this week in similar fashion, storming from fifth to first on the final length
    Caeleb Dressel (USA) broke another Olympic record with a 21.07 second time to win gold in the men’s 50m freestyle – this was his fourth gold medal of the games before winning his fifth in the 4x100m medley relay
    Sunisa Lee (USA) captured her third medal of the Games on Sunday, winning bronze in the uneven bars finishing behind gold medalist Biba Derwael (Belgium) and Anastasiia Iliankova (ROC) – the bronze gives her a complete set of medals after winning silver in the team event and gold in the all-around
    Alexander Zverev (Germany) claimed gold in men’s tennis after knocking off Novak Djokovic in the semifinals and then easily beating Karen Khachanov (ROC), 6-3, 6-1, on Sunday – it’s one of the biggest tournament wins ever for the 24-year-old
    Lamont Marcell Jacobs (Italy) is the new “World’s Fastest Man,” after winning the men’s 100m Sunday, beating out silver medal winner Fred Kerley (USA) by 0.04 seconds – notably absent from the final was Trayvon Bromell (USA) who many considered a gold-medal contender, but failed to qualify out of the semifinals
    In one of the best scenes from Tokyo so far, Mutaz Essa Barshim (Qatar) and Gianmarco Tamberi (Italy) decided to share the gold medal in the men’s high jump on Sunday after tying and forgoing a jump-off to determine a sole winner – after the two reached the decision to tie, Tamberi leaped into the arms of a smiling Barshim in an awesome celebration
    Raven Saunders (USA) was another highlight of the weekend, winning silver in the women’s shot put while wearing a hulk mask and then displaying a variety of dance moves in celebration, including the twerk and the dougie

    Old Faces New Places

    In perhaps the biggest blockbuster of the day, Max Scherzer and Trea Turner were dealt to the L.A. Dodgers in return for four talented prospects
    Yankees were active at the deadline, acquiring fellow all-stars Joey Gallo and Anthony Rizzo – Rizzo has been on fire since joining the Yanks
    Cubs unloaded their roster, trading Kris Bryant (SF), Javy Baez (NYM) and Craig Kimbrel (CWS) – all three hit home runs in their first games with their new teams
    Red Sox made a flurry of trades at the deadline, headlined by Michael Chavis who was dealt to Pittsburgh for reliever Austin Davis
    Blue Jays added a new ace in Jose Berrios for a hefty price – Toronto sent back two top-end prospects in Austin Martin and Simeon Woods-Richardson
    Braves added a key bullpen piece in Richard Rodriguez right before the end of the deadline
    Atlanta also traded for Royals outfielder Jorge Soler in an effort to rebuild their outfield – the Braves also acquired outfielders Joc Pederson, Eddie Rosario and Adam Duvall

    Final: USA 1, Mexico 0

    Wow, the excitement of USA vs. Mexico stayed consistent in this Gold Cup Final as the game was an absolute barn burner, with it all coming down to Atlanta United’s Miles Robinson (117’) scoring a massive header from a beautiful Kellyn Acosta free kick – Matt Turner recorded yet another clean sheet and won Goalkeeper of the tournament!
    MLB – Top Game

    Final: Tampa Bay Rays 3, Boston Red Sox 2

    The Rays offense was powered by Brandon Lowe (1 HR, 2 RBI) and Manuel Margot (1 RBI)
    Tampa Bay was able to hold Boston’s bats in check as Boston only had two hits with runners on base – the Red Sox suffered their first sweep since their opening series against Baltimore
